What follows is a collection of musical excerpts, some with a purpose, some not. We start with a piece composed for and performed by the Vancouver ensemble Days, Months and Years to Come.
Comp1101011 – 1977
This excerpt is built on a series of rapidly changing fixed pitch structures, and leaves the moment to moment instrumentation up to the conductor to perform as he/she conducts.
Grotto
“Grotto” includes waves recorded in the Blowholes on the east coast of Nova Scotia, and ancient gates from Yorkshire as well as shakuhachi from Japan. (N.B. track contains low frequency sound)
Angel
‘Angel’ describes a brief scene from a film script female lead enters the house, with sunlight streaming in from behind.
Corporate invitation #2
This invitation is in the mood of a Fanfare.
Thunder
I was thinking of video games…riding on the back of a huge pterodactyl in a desert scene.
Breeze
I am imagining a tropical beach with beautiful palm trees…
Grande
Not sure how to describe this…me and my synth.
Saddlesong
Clearly (?), I’m riding a horse.
Mercer St.
Our house in Stratford.
Dark St.
Late night, wet streets glistening.
